Looking for a Monkeytype alternative?
If you like Monkeytype’s clean, focused typing test, you will feel at home here. Typing Quest keeps the test minimal and adds long-term progression around it.

What feels familiar
- A clean typing box with a smooth caret and live WPM.
- Timed tests (15, 30, 60, 120 s) and word counts (10 to 100).
- Quotes, zen mode, and difficulty tiers.
- Raw WPM, accuracy, consistency and a per-second chart.
- Tab to restart, Esc for options, lots of fonts and themes.
What is different
- Progression: coins, collectible cards, upgrades and Guardian boss duels.
- Daily structure: quests, a daily challenge with the same words for everyone, and streaks.
- Lessons for beginners, and a Weak Keys drill.
- Competitions you can make for friends, with a shared word list for 24 hours.
- Cosmetics you earn by typing: carets, themes, frames, titles and badges.
Use both
Plenty of people use more than one typing site. Typing Quest is a good fit when you want practice to add up to something, whether that is a full card album or the top of the weekly board.
Typing Quest is an independent project and is not affiliated with Monkeytype.
Questions
Will my WPM be the same as on Monkeytype?
Both use the standard measure (correct characters ÷ 5 per minute), so results should be broadly similar, though word lists and test details differ.
Is there a leaderboard?
Yes: daily, weekly and all-time boards for each test length, with automated runs filtered out.
Can I change the font and theme?
Yes. There are many typing fonts and themes, and more to earn.
