Questions
How long should a typing test be?
One minute is the standard, and it is what most WPM charts are based on. Shorter tests (15 or 30 seconds) tend to give slightly higher scores because there is less time to tire or slip up.
Do mistakes lower my WPM?
Yes. WPM only counts correctly typed characters, so mistakes and the time spent fixing them both cost you speed. Raw WPM shows what you would have scored with every keystroke counted.
