1 minute typing test
The classic typing speed test: sixty seconds of common English words. It is long enough to be reliable and short enough to take again and again.

Why one minute?
Words per minute is literally measured per minute, so a 60-second test needs no scaling. It is the length most typing charts, job listings and school targets use, which makes your score easy to compare.
Over a full minute the odd lucky streak or slip evens out, so your result is a fair picture of your everyday speed.
How to get your best score
- Look ahead. Read the next word while you are typing the current one.
- Keep going after a mistake. Fixing a typo costs more time than the typo itself, unless it is in the word you are on.
- Relax your hands. Tension slows you down more than you think, especially in the last 15 seconds.
- Warm up first. A couple of 15-second tests get your fingers moving.
What happens after
You get your WPM, accuracy, raw speed, consistency and a chart you can hover over second by second. Sign in and your best 60-second run goes on the weekly and all-time leaderboards.
Questions
What is a good score on a 1 minute typing test?
Around 40 WPM is a typical adult speed. 60 WPM is comfortably above average, 80 WPM is fast, and 100 WPM or more is excellent.
Why is my score lower than on a 15-second test?
Short tests reward a single burst of speed. Over a minute your speed settles to its real level, which is usually a little lower.
Can I see which keys I get wrong?
Yes. Every test ends with a keyboard heatmap of the keys you missed, and Weak Keys mode drills them for you.
