Typing Quest is a free online typing speed test. Pick a 15, 30, 60 or 120 second test or a 10 to 100 word run, start typing, and see your WPM, accuracy, raw speed and consistency the moment you finish, with a second-by-second chart and a heatmap of the keys you miss. No sign-up needed.
Then it turns practice into a game. Every correct word earns coins for crates of collectible cards, your cards make your typing pay more, and Guardians wait at the end of each set to test your speed. There are daily challenges, quests, leaderboards, competitions you can make for friends, a companion that grows as you type, and even a farm you water by typing.
New to typing? The Learn mode walks you from the home row to the whole keyboard in short lessons with star ratings, and Weak Keys mode drills the letters you get wrong most.
Most people type around 35 to 45 WPM. 60 WPM is comfortably above average, 80+ is fast, and 100+ is excellent. Accuracy matters as much as speed: aim for 95% or better.
One “word” is five characters, spaces included. WPM counts the correctly typed characters, divided by five, per minute. Raw WPM counts every keystroke, mistakes included.
The test will feel familiar: a clean, minimal typing box, timed and word-count modes, raw WPM, consistency and a per-second graph. Typing Quest adds long-term progression on top (cards, upgrades, quests and boss duels) so practice has a goal. It isn’t affiliated with Monkeytype.
Yes, it’s free, and you can play as a guest straight away. Sign in with Discord or Google to save your progress to the cloud and appear on the leaderboards.
Keep your fingers on the home row, look at the screen rather than the keys, and slow down until you can type cleanly. Speed follows accuracy. Ten minutes a day beats an hour once a week; the daily goal and streaks help.
Yes, though typing tests are best on a physical keyboard. You can also install Typing Quest as an app from your browser.
